Practicing hand flag signaling

Earlier, from April 12 to 13, ships of the Vietnam People's Navy and the Royal Thai Navy conducted the joint patrol in the waters adjacent to Vietnam and Thailand according to a joint agreement on coordination regulations on joint patrol along the shared sea border and establishment of communication channel on June 14, 1999.

During the patrol, the two sides performed the saluting ceremony called Hello ASEAN (a saluting ceremony at sea among naval ships of ASEAN member states); exchanged information; practiced hand flag, lamp, and whistle signaling according to the International Code on Signals. Naval ships of the two sides also exercised search and rescue scenarios and contents of the Code for Unplanned Encounters at Sea (CUES) and conducted dissemination to prevent illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
