Defense Minister receives Cambodian counterpart
PANO - On September 1 afternoon, at the headquarters of the Ministry of National Defense, Defense Minister General Phan Van Giang hosted a reception for his Cambodian counterpart General Tea Seiha, Deputy Prime Minister of Cambodia, who was in Vietnam to attend the grand ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and the National Day on September 2.
Gen. Giang sincerely thanked Gen. Tea Seiha for accepting the invitation to attend and for sending a contingent of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces to participate in the grand parade at the ceremony. He laid stress on this state-level celebration, saying that it was held to pay profound tribute to President Ho Chi Minh, revolutionary predecessors, heroic martyrs, and the people who sacrificed for Vietnam’s independence and freedom. He underlined that the victory of the August Revolution was also a shared triumph of oppressed peoples struggling against colonialism and imperialism.

The Vietnamese defense leader expressed deep appreciation for the support and assistance of Cambodia, international friends, and progressive peoples worldwide for Vietnam’s revolutionary cause. He stressed that the construction by the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam of monuments honoring Cambodian soldiers, together with those from other friendly nations, namely the Soviet Union, Cuba, China, and Laos, stands as a vivid testament to the close ties and profound friendship between the two countries and their militaries.
He affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to continuously strengthening and developing the good neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and long-term sustainability with Cambodia, while supporting an independent, peaceful, and developing Cambodia that plays an increasingly important role in the international arena.

The host also noted that over the past time, bilateral defense cooperation has achieved many substantive and effective results, recognized by senior leaders of both countries as one of the important pillars of bilateral relations. He proposed that the two sides continue coordination to effectively implement the contents of the protocol on cooperation for the 2025-2029 period and the annual cooperation plans between the two Ministries of National Defense.
For his part, Gen. Tea Seiha extended congratulations on the occasion of the 80th National Day of Vietnam, and expressed his admiration for the patriotism of the Vietnamese people. The Cambodian defense chief reaffirmed that Cambodia values and wishes to further promote the ever-growing relationship between the two countries and their militaries.
