At the reception, Vietnamese Ambassador to New Zealand Nguyen Van Trung expressed the honor to welcome Gen. Cuong and his entourage at the embassy.

An overview of the meeting

Reviewing the achievements in the two countries’ cooperation, the diplomat emphasized that the defense-security cooperation is one of the important pillars in the bilateral relationship.

He spoke highly of the role of the Vietnamese Defense Attaché Office in Australia and New Zealand, and military officers and cadets studying and working in New Zealand in boosting the bilateral defense ties.

Ambassador Trung hoped that in his post, Gen. Cuong will pay due care, create conditions, direct the Vietnamese defense attaché office, officers and cadets in the host country to complete their assignments, making active and effective contribution to developing the bilateral defense cooperation in particular, and the cooperative ties between Vietnam and New Zealand in general.

Expressing his delight at the important cooperation outcomes gained by Vietnam and New Zealand over the past time, Gen. Cuong suggested the Vietnamese Embassy’s staff continue embracing the Party and State’s views and foreign policies, pro-actively contributing to the development of the Vietnam - New Zealand strategic partnership, for the benefit of both countries and for peace, stability, cooperation in the region and the world.
