Defense leader receives Russian guest
PANO – Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and Deputy Defense Minister, hosted a reception for Vice Admiral Liina Viktor Nikolaevich, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, during his visit to participate in the 75th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army and the 30th anniversary of the Whole People’s Defense Festive Day (December 22).
At the reception, General Giang thanked the guest for accepting the invitation from the Vietnam People’s Army to attend its important events, stressing that their visit will contribute to expanding the friendship, mutual trust, understanding and cooperation between the two militaries. In turn, Vice Admiral Liina Viktor Nikolaevich sent his greetings to the host on this special occasion.

The two senior defense leaders expressed their delight at witnessing the positive and effective cooperation outcomes between the two sides over the past time, particularly in training, delegation exchange, cooperation at multilateral forums, and so on.
Accordingly, the two defense ministries also launched numerous activities within the framework of the Vietnam-Russia Cross-Year 2019-2020, in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the signing of the treaty on basic principles for Vietnam-Russia friendship (1994-2019) and the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the bilateral diplomatic ties. The two senior defense leaders agreed that defense relations always play a significant role in promoting the Vietnam-Russia strategic comprehensive partnership.
