At the meeting, the Vietnamese general emphasized the great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos. He confirmed that senior leaders of the two countries always pay attention to preserving, consolidating, and fostering the bilateral relations.

Reviewing the bilateral defense cooperation over the past time, both generals agreed that the two sides have seen remarkable outcomes in various aspects and defense cooperation continues to be one of the important pillars in the Vietnam - Laos relationship.

They consented to strengthen the cooperation in defense with the focus on the successful organization of the first Vietnam - Laos - Cambodia border defense friendship exchange at the defense ministerial level.

Lt. Gen. Saichay Kommasith informed the host about the outcomes of his working sessions with other functional agencies of the MND of Vietnam. He emphasized that the experience shared by the MND of Vietnam was useful for the Lao counterpart in preparing and organizing ASEAN military-defense events in 2024. He hoped to continue to receive support from the Vietnamese MND during these events.

Gen. Chien expressed his belief that real experience gained during the guest’s working sessions in Vietnam will be applied to the organization of ASEAN military-defense events next year. Speaking highly of the Lao MND’s pro-active preparations, Gen. Chien affirmed that the Vietnamese MND, in its capacity, will assist its Lao counterpart in successfully hosting these important events.

The Vietnamese defense leader believed that the Lao MND, as Chairman of the ADMM and ADMM+ 2024, will continue to contribute to the development of ASEAN defense cooperation, thus promoting the practical cooperation, upholding solidarity and unity, and reaching high consensus among ASEAN countries and between the grouping and its partners.
