Major General Pham Van Huan introducing the newspaper's first 33 issues to the Lao guest
Welcoming Lao military reporters, General Huan briefed them of the Vietnamese PAN’s development and task performance during its history.
The Vietnamese PAN was established on October 20, 1950 in Khau Dieu hamlet, Dinh Bien commune, Dinh Hoa district, Thai Nguyen province. Over these years, the newspaper has successfully completed all assigned political missions. Notably, the newspaper received the title “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces” twice, two of its reporters were titled "Hero of the People's Armed Forces," and nine of its war reporters sacrificed themselves during the national resistance wars against foreign invaders.
At present, the newspaper has five publications, namely the printed daily, the weekly, the online newspaper with Vietnamese, English, Chinese, Lao and Khmer editions, the “Events and Witnesses” monthly magazine and the internal bulletin. The newspaper primarily focuses on major international and domestic events, covers all military-defense guidelines and resolutions of the Party and State as well as daily activities of the whole army units.
Particularly, the Vietnamese PAN has actively and effectively disseminated the traditional relations between Vietnam and Laos, as well as Laos’ achievements in developing the country to its readers.
At the opening of the training course for the Lao delegation hosted by the Vietnam PAN
General Huan also underlined the relations between the Vietnamese and Lao PANs. The Vietnamese PAN sent its journalists to support its Lao counterpart. The two newspapers regularly exchanged delegations, which has made considerable contributions to promoting their staff’s competency and mutual understanding and trust.
For his part, the Head of the Lao PAN delegation, Buakeo Sithivong, thanked the Vietnamese PAN for the warm reception as well as its assistance to the Lao PAN over the past years. He believed that this training course will help improve Lao trainees’ professionalism to further fulfill their assigned tasks.
As scheduled, during the training course in Vietnam, the Lao PAN’s delegates will participate in various classes taught by experienced instructors from the Vietnamese PAN and join fact-finding tours in five Vietnamese army units and localities.
