At the meeting

The event was jointly held by the Department of External Relations under the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense, the Vietnam Military History Institute, the Russian Defense Ministry’s General Department of International Military Cooperation, and the Military History Institute of the General Staff Academy of the Russian Armed Forces.

At the event, the two sides briefed each other on their preparations and the feasibility of a joint publication.

Reports delivered at the event revealed that Vietnam is tasked to compile 17 contents with a focus on defense ministry-level scientific research projects, the publishing of a book on the 70-year defense cooperation, Vietnam’s participation in the Army Games hosted by Russia, and a compilation of historical memoirs.

According to the External Relations Department’s representatives, due to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, Vietnam fulfilled four out of the five activities set for 2020. The remaining seminar on Vietnam-Russia military cooperation over the past 70 year was postponed until later this month.

At the event, representatives of the Russian Defense Ministry’s General Department of International Military Cooperation announced that apart from compiling joint publications, the Russian side will create favorable conditions for Vietnam to complete its part.
