China supports Vietnam in COVID-19 fight
PANO - The Chinese National Immigration Administration presented medical supplies to the Vietnam Border Guard Command at a ceremony held on November 4 at Huu Nghi International Border Gate in Lang Son province.
Present at the event were Zhao Wanpeng, police counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam and Senior Colonel Do Hiep Thang, Deputy Director of the Department of Logistics under the Vietnam Border Guard Command and Permanent Deputy Head of the Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control of the Vietnam Border Guard Command.
The medical supplies, including medical masks, protective clothing, hand sanitizer and antibacterial liquid, worth nearly VND 2 billion in total.
Addressing the ceremony, counselor Zhan Wanpeng highlighted the effective cooperation between the border forces of Vietnam and China in preventing the COVID-19 from spreading across the shared borderline between the two countries, contributing to the health protection of local people.
The Chinese diplomat also recalled that in the early period of the COVID-19 outbreak in China, Vietnam presented a number of medical supplies to the country to curb disease. That meaningful act showcased the two countries’ neighborliness.
He hoped that the two nations’ border forces would further their coordination to successfully control the COVID-19 pandemic.
On behalf of the Vietnam Border Guard Command, Senior Colonel Do Hiep Thang thanked the Chinese National Immigration Administration for their gifts, which vividly demonstrated the Chinese side’s high responsibility in collaborating with the Vietnam Border Guard Command to contain the COVID-19 pandemic.
