He underscored that the traditional friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos has reached a new height, becoming an exemplary and faithful relationship, an invaluable common asset of the two parties, states, armed forces, and peoples, paving the way for effective implementation of cooperation contents.

He also spoke highly of coordination work between the Vietnam Border Guard Command and the General Departments of Police and Public Security of Laos’ Ministry of Public Security. Accordingly, both sides have effectively worked together in the fight against transnational crimes, maintaining the twinning activities, contributing to building the Vietnam - Laos borderline of peace, solidarity, cooperation, and development.

The Vietnam Border Guard Commander affirmed the role of the Head of the Lao Ministry of Public Security which is considered as an important part, contributing to deepening the solidarity and friendship between the Lao Ministry of Public Security and Vietnam’s Defense Ministry in general, and between the Vietnam Border Guard Command and Laos’ General Departments of Police and Public Security in particular.

He also urged both sides to continue to effectively implement agreed contents in the cooperation agreement between the two sides, signed in 2021; boost information exchange and the fight against all kinds of crimes, contributing to ensuring security and order, and social safety, among others.

Gen. Thai hoped that in the new working position, Col. Khonsy Naovalath would try his best to work with the Vietnamese side to effectively implement signed documents, especially the first exchange program between the two sides’ young officers in Vietnam, scheduled to take place in this July, 2024.

On behalf of the delegation, Col. Khonsy Naovalath thanked the Vietnam Border Guard Command for making recommendations to the Vietnamese Defense Ministry to implement cooperation plans in 2023; supporting equipment and helping raise Lao officers’ competence over the past time.

The guest added that in his new position, he would continue to further promote the sound tradition and comprehensive cooperation between the two sides over the past years.
