The event was attended by Lieutenant General Le Hien Van, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army, and Vietnamese military alumni in Australia, among others.

Speaking at the event, Lieutenant General Le Hien Van held that the Vietnam-Australia bilateral cooperation and friendship have been increasingly enhanced since the establishment of Vietnam-Australia diplomatic relations in February, 1973.

He noted that the bilateral defense ties reached achievements in various fields such as delegation exchange, military training, UN peacekeeping operations, counter-terrorism, and so on.

Particularly, personnel training cooperation plays an important role in the two defense ministries’ relationship. Australia has taken the lead in providing training courses in both Australia and Vietnam for Vietnamese defense personnel to improve their command of English and military expertise.

General Van said that the event also offered an opportunity for both sides to highlight fruitful outcomes of the bilateral cooperation and for Vietnamese military alumni to pay tribute to their teachers.
