The contest was organized by the Naval Academy for nine teams from Battalions 4 and 7 and Unit 3 (unit of Cambodian cadets) in celebration of the traditional Tet (lunar New Year) festival.

Each team to the event has to make 15 Chung cakes in 30 minutes and then cook all before giving to the judges.

This year is the second time that the Cambodian cadets have taken part in the Chung cake making contest and Tet festival at the Vietnam Naval Academy. Therefore, they have been familiar with all steps of making Chung cakes.

Chief Warrant Officer Kong Chanpheakdey, head of the cadet delegation of the Royal Cambodian Navy, held that due to the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic, he and his friends had to stay and welcome Tet festival at the academy to ensure safety. They are happy to enjoy the festival with Vietnamese friends because the event helps them understand more about the Vietnamese traditional culture, he added. He noted that these activities will contribute to enhancing mutual understanding, solidarity and friendship among the naval cadets of the two countries.
