Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, attended the event.

During the banquet, the Singaporean Ambassador to Vietnam, Jaya Ratnam, highlighted the significance of close cooperation between the two countries. Ambassador Jaya Ratnam emphasized that Singapore - Vietnam relationship has been continuously strengthened based on trust, respect, and mutual support. He expressed confidence in a bright and promising future for the Singapore-Vietnam relationship in the coming decades.

Singapore's Defense Attaché to Vietnam Colonel Bernard Ng Yu Long affirmed Singapore's high regard for close defense cooperation with Vietnam. He expressed his hope to promote this cooperation to new heights in the future. He emphasized that the defense ministries of both countries are currently engaged in cooperative activities to build trust, enhance mutual understanding, and address common security challenges.

Gen. Tan, in his remarks, emphasized the fruitful Vietnam - Singapore 50-year journey of cooperation and development. He stated that the strong and reliable political relationship has paved the way for cooperation in all fields, including defense ties, which is considered one of the pillars of Vietnam - Singapore relationship. Vietnam - Singapore defense cooperation has achieved significant results in different sectors, such as exchange visits, personnel training, cooperation between the armed forces and services, dialogue mechanisms, young officer exchanges, and close and effective coordination in multilateral forums led by ASEAN.

The Vietnamese defense leader affirmed that the Ministry of National Defense and the Vietnam People's Army laid much importance on the development of a reliable, effective, and substantive relationship with the Singaporean Ministry of Defense and the Singaporean Armed Forces, contributing to the continuous development of the strategic partnership between the two countries.

Gen. Tan believed that with the political determination, goodwill, and efforts from both sides, the Vietnam-Singapore defense cooperation will continue to achieve even greater accomplishments for the benefits of people of both countries, as well as for peace, stability, cooperation, development, and prosperity in the region and the world.
