During the course, 29 English instructors from military academies and schools and ten from Laos and Cambodia will be equipped with English military terms by instructors from the Defense International Training Center (DITC).

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Director of Department of Foreign Relations Senior Colonel Nguyen Duy Minh evaluated that training cooperation is always a firm foundation for the Vietnam - Australia defense ties. Col. Minh said that Australia is the leading English speaking country in assisting the Vietnam People’s Army in enhancing its officers’ English command and specialized knowledge. He said that this refresher course is one of the defense cooperation contents between the two countries in 2023.

Welcoming English instructors from Laos and Cambodia to the refresher course, Col. Minh said that their participation in the course would contribute to its success.

For his part, Colonel Michael Jansen, Australian Defense Attaché to Vietnam, emphasized that the training course is part of the activities in Indo-Pacific Endeavor, Australia’s program to foster bilateral cooperation among countries. During the event, Australian instructors will provide Vietnamese, Lao, and Cambodian trainees with English military terms to meet their demand for English communication while carrying out international cooperation missions.

This is the second refresher course of this kind that has been held in Vietnam. The event is expected to contribute to further improving the quality of English teaching in military academies and schools in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. It is also an opportunity for instructors to share their experience and enhance mutual understanding and trust, thus promoting the defense cooperation relationship among the countries.
