Singapore is ready to share its experience in urban building and management with Ho Chi Minh City as wished by the municipal authorities, said Singaporean Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrisrhnan.

Minister Vivian Balakrisrhnan was greeted in Vietnam’s southern economic hub by its mayor Nguyen Thanh Phong on October 27 during his working visit to Vietnam.

The HCM City official said he is delighted to see the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Singapore is growing.

As both are members of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement and ASEAN, their relations, including that with HCM City, will continue thriving, especially in economy, trade and investment, Phong said.

He said he wants to learn from Singapore’s experience in building smart cities, tackling traffic congestions, managing water resources, and combating urban flooding.

The city hopes for continuous support from Singapore in improving the competence of staff in urban management, bio-technology and electronics technology, Phong noted.

The Minister was impressed with HCM City’s strong, dynamic growth and said the city and Singapore should work out measures to further the effective cooperation between their businesses.

Singaporean businesses want to take part in fields of HCM City’s interests in the coming time and will study building large-scale projects and works that symbolize the two countries’ cooperative ties, he said.

He pledged that Singapore continuously works with HCM City in personnel training and wants to deploy cooperative projects in high-technology and electronics technology to address the employment needs of high-skilled young laborers.
