Foreigners honored for saving local people from a burning building
PANO - On May 4, the Fire Prevention, Firefighting and Rescue Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security held a ceremony in Da Nang City to hand over a letter of commendation and friendship badges to two foreigners.
The Vietnamese police honored Valeria, aged 32 from Russia, and Jean Christophe, aged 45 from France, in recognition of their brave deeds during a fire, which occurred at Bao Hoang Hotel at No.398, Kinh Duong Vuong street, Hoa Minh ward, Lieu Chieu district, Da Nang city, on May 1.

When they became aware of the incident, the two men immediately joined locals to extinguish the blaze. They climbed up to the top floor of the hotel and broke windows with their hands to let the smoke out. Afterwards, they rescued two children, who had been trapped inside the building, and evacuated them immediately.
Previously, the two men also received letters of commendation from Chairman of the Da Nang Municipal People’s Committee and were awarded with certificates of merit by the Lien Chieu District People’s Committee.
