For his part Takebe emphasized the importance of the Vietnam-Japan University as a symbol of bilateral cooperation, while expressing his hope for continued support from the Vietnamese government. He highlighted the university's success, including graduates being hired by Japanese firms. Upcoming plans for the university include IT and human resources training centers, with new programs like semiconductor engineering set to begin in 2025.
Both sides acknowledged the value of Vietnamese trainees to Japan’s labor force, particularly as Japan faces a demographic decline. Takebe also mentioned the Vietnam Festival in Hokkaido, planned for September 2025, aimed at further strengthening people-to-people ties.
The Deputy Prime Minister welcomed these developments and urged continued collaboration, especially in fields like digital transformation and semiconductor training. He also encouraged deeper local-level cooperation, particularly between Hokkaido and Vietnamese provinces.
