International seminar seeks approaches to improve press activities in digital era
PANO – The Vietnam Journalists Association (VJA) and the Lao Journalists Association (LJA) co-held an international seminar in the central province of Nghe An on July 26 to seek approaches to improve press activities in the era of digital communications.

Addressing the conference, Deputy Head of the Central Commission of Information and Education, VJA’s President and Editor-in-Chief of the Nhan Dan (People) Newspaper Thuan Huu affirmed that the friendship and cooperation between the two associations have contributed to strengthening the Vietnam-Laos relationship.
Huu recalled that over the past time the two associations have closely worked together to provide comprehensive information about the political and socio-economic achievements of Vietnam and Laos in the national construction and reform cause.
He said that the Vietnamese and Lao press and media agencies have been focusing on covering political and socio-economic situations in each country as well as other regional and global issues, including political conflicts, economic growth, climate change and environmental problems. VJA’s President also mentioned challenges posed by social networks and from changes in demand for information of Vietnamese and Lao readers in the era of digital communications and suggested that the Vietnamese and Lao press sector should change their mindset, update technologies and renew methods to meet the demand of their citizens in the digital era.
Savankhon Razmounttry, Deputy Minister of Information, Culture, Tourism and LJA’s President also highlighted achievements recorded by the two associations over the past time. Accordingly, in April 2019 the two sides organized a training course in Vientiane to train Lao journalists to use smart phones to make press or/and media products. Savankhon Razmounttry emphasized a change to a digital communication basis to meet the demand for reliable information of the whole society.
At the seminar, the two sides shared their experiences in journalism in the fourth industrial revolution as well as put forward approaches to raise the effectiveness of their cooperation as well as the quality of the press sector of each country.
