The PetroVietnam Power Corporation (PV Power) and the PetroVietnam Construction JSC (PVC) signed an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract on February 28 to build Thai Binh Thermo Power Plant No 2 at My Loc commune, Thai Thuy district, Thai Binh province.
The plant is an important project in Thai Binh province’s socio-economic development strategy and the country’s common development plan.
Covering an area of 43 hectares, the thermo power plant has a designed capacity of 12 MW. The first turbine group is expected to begin generating electricity by 2014 while the second turbine group was for operation in early 2015. Total investment for the project is more than US$1.6 billion.
After completion, the plant will provide the national electricity grid with more than 6.7 billion kWh electricity annually.
PVC has involved in many major electricity projects including Nhon Trach power plant No 2, and Vung Ang, Song Hau, Ca Mau and Long Phu power grids and sources.
