The event was attended by Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City municipal Party’s Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan, VTV General Director Tran Binh Minh, and Viettel’s Deputy General Director Senior Colonel Nguyen Dinh Chien.

Initiated by Viettel’s and VTV’s “Heart for you” fund, the charity program aims to help poor kids with congenital heart diseases get free heart surgery as well as to raise healthcare capacity of medical centers in remote and mountainous areas so that they could detect early congenital heart diseases among local children.

During the event

Over the past 11 years, the program has provided free heart operations for around 5,200 children across the country. 130,000 others had their hearts checked, while 40 hospitals were presented with medical equipment.

Organizers launched 34 online medical consultation programs and 1,200 agencies to receive profiles of children in need while raising VND 152 billion to conduct activities for those kids.

In 2019 alone, more than 550 children were given free surgery, and 300,000 others had their hearts checked. More than 300 additional points have been in charge of receiving information about children with heart diseases from their families. 

At the ceremony, the organizers announced its four ambassadors, namely Viettel Football Club’s players Nguyen Trong Hoang, Que Ngoc Hai, and Bui Tien Dung and actress Hong Diem. In the 12th year, the program is expected to reach all localities across the country.
