At the event, Viettel Telecoms Deputy Director General Phung Van Cuong stressed that the infrastructures that Viettel owns and is building will provide grounds for the success of the Digital Government.
At the summit, Viettel shared its experience and strength in building the digital infrastructures, including connection infrastructure, technology infrastructure, Service Platform, and foundation database. As for the connection infrastructure, so far Viettel has had its widespread system of 67,000 3G and 4G base transceiver stations, covering up to 95% of the population. Viettel’s optical fiber cable technology has now reached each commune and household. The 4G network is offering most advanced technologies and Viettel is preparing for its 5G network.
In terms of data infrastructure, Viettel has established five Tier3 data centers with vision to meeting the Tier4 standard, capable of serving millions of customers at the same time.
For technology foundation, Viettel has mastered the IoT, Cloud, Mobile ID, Mobile Connect, Bigdata, Integration Platform, AI… technologies. In terms of foundation database, at present Viettel is carrying out the software project for the Digital Government, such as the national population database, etc. Viettel is reaching the targets that each citizen has a unique citizen ID and a medical profile; each student has his/her unique electronic academic records and each family will become a Home BTS connecting the whole society. At the same time, Viettel is building a national database on areas that make the foundation for a Facilitating Digital Government.

According to Viettel Telecoms Deputy Director General Phung Van Cuong, the digital infrastructures that Viettel owns and is building will provide foundations for the success of the Digital Government, contributing to meeting the need of the society, ensuring a secure Internet environment for the Vietnamese people, serving the development of the entire socio-economy, heading for a developed and integrating society.
The fast-coming Industry 4.0 has brought both opportunities and challenges to Vietnam in all areas. In order to develop a digital economy and society, the Digital Government in Industry 4.0 is required to place priority on developing corresponding digital infrastructures. Viettel, with its capacity and available infrastructures, markets, human and financial resources... will continue to be at the forefront to meet the need of building the Digital Government in particular and the demand to join Industry 4.0 in general of Vietnam.
