Mytel, Viettel’s trademark in Myanmar, had over 1 million subscribers only ten days after its inauguration |
According to Viettel, it has so far recovered its investments in Laos, Cambodia and East Timor. Its trademarks have now taken the lead in these telecoms network markets and gained 4 to 5 times higher than its investments in the markets.
Although Viettel has not taken back what it had invested in Tanzania after its two years of operation and in Myanmar since June 9, 2018, its two joint-ventures in these countries see a positive growth. Last year, Viettel Tanzania enjoyed 35 percent growth in turnover while Mytel (Viettel’s trademark in Myanmar) had over 1 million subscribers only ten days after its inauguration.
Normally, telecoms companies investing overseas often take back their investments after at least 4 to 5 years. In spite of the fact, Viettel has set a target of gaining profits after three years of operation in any overseas markets.
Currently, Viettel is in the top 15 world’s biggest telecoms companies in numbers of subscribers and top 40 world’s largest telecoms companies in term of turnover.
Viettel has invested in ten foreign countries with a total population of 240 million people in three continents of Asia, Africa and America.
Viettel’s goal is to expand investment in some more countries to reach a total population of 400 to 500 million people and be listed as one of the top 10 global telecoms companies by 2020.
Viettel Global, a Viettel’s affiliate, will be listed on the Unlisted Public Company Market (UPCOM) this July.
