The Vietnamese team did not start well, trailing 0-10 after five rounds. However, following a strategic timeout by coach Tran Quoc Cuong, the duo regained their momentum. They leveled the score at 10-10, with an impressive 21.3-point performance in the ninth round (Thu Vinh: 10.6, Quang Huy: 10.7).
As the match progressed, both teams continued to trade points, with ties at 11-11 and 13-13. In the decisive rounds, Thu Vinh and Quang Huy showcased their composure and precision, finishing the match at 17-13 to secure the gold medal.
In the same event, Vietnam’s second pair, Nguyen Thuy Trang and Lai Cong Minh, scored 572 points, ranking 6th and missing out on the medal rounds.
The Asian Rifle/Pistol Cup 2025 features over 280 top shooters from 22 countries and territories, competing in individual and team events for rifle and air pistol disciplines in both men’s and women’s categories. Vietnam’s national shooting team is participating with 18 athletes.
