Notably, the Philippines entered the semi-final as the only team yet to concede a goal, while Vietnam also boasted a solid defense, having let in just one goal throughout the tournament.
The Philippines surprised early by pressing high, dominating midfield possession and relying on aerial balls to create pressure. However, Vietnam’s defense held firm, with goalkeeper Tran Trung Kien producing several timely interventions.
Vietnam gradually grew into the game in the latter stages of the first half, using pace and width on the flanks. Despite creating several chances, the deadlock remained unbroken at halftime.
After the break, Vietnam increased the tempo, with coach Kim making attacking substitutions to refresh the frontline. The Philippines remained dangerous on the counter, coming close with a header that narrowly missed the post in the 66th minute.
