Winners of 10m air pistol event awarded |
The tournament, taking place from June 20 to 29, has attracted nearly 200 shooters and coaches from 13 teams nationwide.
Shooters will compete for 20 sets of medals in different events, including team rifle shooting, men’s pistol, women’s sports pistol, rifle prone, air pistol, and more.
So far, the military contingent has won ten gold, eight silver, and six bronze medals, temporarily ranking first in the tournament. The military contingent is followed by Hai Duong’s team with two golds, two silvers, and one bronze, and Hai Phong’s team with two golds and one silver.
At the opening ceremony of the tourney, the organizers awarded shooters with the highest shooting points.
This year, 47 shooters of the military contingent will compete in all of the shooting events. Among the shooters, Phi Thanh Thao was a gold medalist in the women’s 10m air pistol event in 2004.
Addressing the event, Nguyen Manh Hung, Director of the Hanoi National Sports Training Center, head of the organizing panel, said that shooting is among the sports which have brought the most medals for the Vietnamese team in international tournaments. This tourney is a good chance for shooters to acquire experience and prepare for the 31st SEA Games in 2021.
