Vietnam’s national flag was hoisted above the Choa Chu Kang stadium (Singapore) on the first day of competition of the 2011 ASEAN Schools Games.
Vietnamese students competed in five of the games’ six events on July 2. Ngo Danh Thanh bagged the first gold medal for the men’s 1,500m running event. The other two gold medals went to Nguyen Thi Bich Tram for the women’s 1,500m event and Nguyen Thi Hien for the women’s 400m race.
On July 3, Vietnam secured another gold in the men’s table-tennis doubles.
So far, Vietnam has won a total of four gold medals, five silvers and four bronzes to temporarily take the lead in the medals tally at the 2011 ASEAN Schools Games.
