An arts performance programme took place in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau on Sept. 21, marking the opening of the Vietnam-Republic of Korea Culture Week.
In his opening speech, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Ho Van Nien highlighted the development in the traditional relations and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries over the past 20 years.
Nien said the RoK has become an important economic partner of Vietnam in Asia. He expressed his belief that economic, trade and investment ties between the two nations will develop strongly in the coming time.
Recently, the province has promoted exchange and cooperation with organisations, associations and localities of the RoK, with the aim of sharing information and supporting each other in many fields as well as deepening the partnership between the two countries, Nien added.
The event provides the two sides with a chance to introduce cultural and arts characteristics of both sides through activities such as photo exhibition, culinary exchange, film screening and sports activities.
RoK Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Oh Jae-Hack said the Vietnam-RoK relations have seen a strong development since the two countries established diplomatic ties in 1992.
The RoK is now one of the largest investors in Vietnam. Two-way trade between Vietnam and the RoK increased to 18.6 billion USD in 2011 from 500 million USD in 1992.
