PANO – “It is not everyday that a player breaking into the Top 1,000 in the world rankings is big news. But it is, if you are from Vietnam.”
The Tennis World USA started an article with these sentences in order to tell a story about top Vietnamese tennis player Ly Hoang Nam.
The magazine called Nam as a “history maker” by becoming the first player from his nation to enter the ATP's top 1,000 rankings.
This week, the 18-year-old athlete jumped to 915th in the latest ATP’s rankings.
Nam said his next target would be to enter the top 800 rankings. He is a former junior Grand Slam winner-having won the Wimbledon junior doubles trophy.
