More than 5,000 runners from districts and units in Hanoi took part in the opening of the 42nd Open Hanoimoi Run Tournament for Peace 2015 in Hanoi on June 14th.
This is among activities in celebration of the 70th anniversary of August Revolution and National Day, 61st anniversary of Capital Liberation Day, 16th anniversary of Hanoi’s recognition as the “City for Peace” by the UNESCO, and 90th anniversary of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press Day.
Launched 40 years ago, the tournament has become a popular public sports event attracting people from all walks of life and international friends who are working or studying in Vietnam.
The final round for 2,000 best athletes from qualifying rounds in districts and units is scheduled to take place on October 4th around Hoan Kiem Lake.
Last year, the event set a record for the largest number of finalists with 300,465 people.
