PANO - The museum named “Revolutionary soldiers in prison” opened Thursday (November 16) in Nam Quat village, Nam Trieu commune of Phu Xuyen district in Ha Tay province.
Before being the first private museum of Ha Tay province, the museum, run by veteran Lam Van Bang, was a traditional house that lured many visitors. It was also a popular place for students around Phu Xuyen district to come to in order to learn about history in their extra-curricular classes.
The museum, “Revolutionary soldiers in prison”, is set on area of 1,600 square meters of the Lam Van family. A sequence of display houses presents more than 2,000 kinds of souvenirs, working tools, individual belongings, which were owned by revolutionary soldiers detained in Phu Quoc, Hoa Lo, Con Dao, Lao Thua Phu jails.
Among those exhibits are books on Vietnamese traditional medicine, shovels, hair clippers, mandolins, daggers, knives that were made by soldiers themselves for their daily lives and for the struggle against enemies during their time in prison.
Besides items and documents relating to revolutionary soldiers, those reminding people of the nation’s revolutionary tradition and President Ho Chi Minh are also displayed in the museum.
All exhibits have been collected by Mr Lam Van Bang and his comrades imprisoned in Phu Quoc jail since 1985.
