Addressing the annual awards ceremony held in Hanoi on May 12, Chairman of the Vietnam Cinema Association Dang Xuan Hai stressed that 2019 has witnessed many outstanding films. The 2019 Golden Kite Awards drew the participation of 16 feature films, 13 TV series, 17 short films, 15 animated films, 46 documentaries and science films, and six cinematography researches.

Accordingly, the documentary “Chutankra” by Director, Major Vu Minh Phuong, won the Golden Kite Award, while the science film “Organ transplant,” by Director Lieutenant Colonel Pham Hong Thang won the Silver Kite Award.

“Chutankra” tells a story of a wounded soldier from Regiment 209 who spent years searching for the remains of his comrades who had laid down their lives in the Chutankra mountain range in Sa Thay district, Kon Tum province. Through the documentary, viewers understand more about the close comradeship among soldiers who fought shoulder by shoulder, and good relations between local people in Sa Thay and soldiers from Hanoi.

“Organ transplant,” recalls the efforts and contributions of military medical personnel in improving the quality of healthcare.

“Hanh phuc cua me” (The Happiness of a Mother) directed by Pham Huynh Dong won the Golden Kite Awards 2019 in the feature category.

The Silver Kite Awards were presented to “Hai Phuong” (Furie) by Le Van Kiet and “Truyen thuyet ve Quan Tien” (The Legend of Quan Tien) by Dinh Tuan Vu.

The organizing board also granted awards for the best cartoon, documentary, scientific, and short films together with excellent artists.
