The Hoa Binh Exhibition Center in Dalat will open a painting exhibition on November 25th entitled “Impressive Old Dalat Villas” to celebrate the 115th anniversary of “the City in the Dew”, as Dalat is known.
The paintings to be displayed were painted by painter Vi Quoc Hiep, a Tay ethnic minority who was born in Lang Son Province.
Having lived in Dalat, a city surrounded by pine trees, for the past three decades, the painter Hiep “fell in love” with its old villas. He intenesly studied the architecture of the old villas, and tried to understand their hidden truth, goodness and beauty.
Hiep’s works are simple, but full of sentiment and feelings. Hiep strove to enthusiastically convey his feelings of Dalat’s villas on canvas.
The 95 paintings which will be displayed are only a small part of nearly 400 paintings on Dalat’s old villas that he has painted, a great cultural asset.
