This year’s event drew the participation of over 300 athletes from 13 communes and wards across Tuyen Quang city. Each participating team has to cross a five-kilometer track on the Lo River.

The festival is considered to be a unique cultural activity of local people, showing their historical strength and desire to conquer nature.

* The same day, the Keo Pagoda Festival officially opened at Keo Pagoda in Duy Nhat commune, Vu Thu district, Thai Binh province, with the participation of thousands of people.

Since the early morning, locals and visitors burned incense to commemorate National Advocate Duong Khong Lo, who made great contribution to building the 400-year-old pagoda, and pray for their luck, success and happiness.

Every year, there are two festivals taking place in Keo Pagoda. The first one falls on January 4 and the second one is held from September 13 to 15 both on the Lunar Calendar.

* The Phat Tich Pagoda Festival took place in Phat Tich commune, Tien Du district, Bac Ninh province, from February 18 to 20 (January 3 to 5 in Lunar Calendar), attracting many visitors across the country.

Known as a big festival in Bac Ninh province, the event was held in order to raise locals’ pride in their cultural and historical heritages, and at the same time encourage them to make greater achievements in the lunar new year.
