Jointly organized by the Hanoi municipal People’s Committee and Ministry of Information and Communications, the event is to mark the 65th anniversary of the Liberation Day of the capital city and 20 years since Hanoi was recognized as a “City for Peace” by UNESCO.

The festival is expected to help domestic and foreign publishers along with book distributors share their experience and seek cooperation opportunities.

This year, the festival attracts the participation of domestic publishing houses and distributors along with 14 publishers from Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, foreign embassies in Hanoi, and the Southeast Asia Publishers Association.

The highlight of the festival is an exhibition themed “Hanoi - 20 Years as a City for Peace,” which introduces books and documents about the tradition of heroic Hanoi and paintings of the capital city by international children.

On the last day of the festival, a special program to recapture the first flag-saluting ceremony after the liberation day will be held. Exchanges with historical witnesses and representatives from different periods will help the audience learn more about Hanoi.

The festival also features seminars, exchanges between readers and writers, book releases, cultural exchanges, storytelling, and a cuisine space.
