PANO - The Japanese Embassy in Vietnam will hold the first Vietnam-Japan piano festival in Hanoi from November 27th to 29th, to mark the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two nations.

Two talented young pianists, Nguyen Le Binh Anh of Vietnam and Airi Katada of Japan, will perform at the festival in consultation with Japanese pianist Ayuko Higuchi, who has held over 40 charity concerts in Vietnam to support underprivileged children.

The 16-year-old pianist Nguyen Le Binh Anh has pocketed many international awards, including third prize in the First International Piano Contest in Hanoi (2010), first prize in the Vietnam Steinway Piano Competition (2011), and second prize in the Singapore Steinway Piano Regional Final (2012).

Meanwhile, 21-year-old pianist Airi Katada has also won several prestigious prizes and is one of the top five in the Sendai International Music Competition in Japan (2013).

The festival will take place at Chu Van An High School on November 27th, at the Vietnam National Academy of Music on November 28th, and at the Hanoi Children’s Palace on November 29th.
