Located in Vinh Diem Trung Urban Area in Tay Nha Trang ward, the exhibition recreates doctor Yersin’s remarkable journey through five themed galleries, namely “Childhood and Homeland,” “Voyages of Discovery,” “The Conqueror of the Plague,” “A Versatile Scientist,” and “A Lasting Legacy.” Featuring hundreds of photographs, original documents, artifacts, and a rare stamp collection, the exhibition highlights both his scientific accomplishments and his lifelong connection with Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa.
Born in Switzerland in 1863 and later becoming a French citizen, doctor Alexandre Yersin arrived in Nha Trang in 1891 and made the city his second home. Affectionately known by local residents as “Mr. Nam Yersin,” he spent more than five decades living and working there. During that time, he founded the Nha Trang Pasteur Institute, pioneered tropical medicine research, discovered the Lang Biang Plateau (now Da Lat) and successfully introduced rubber and cinchona trees to Vietnam.
