PANO – The Ho Chi Minh City’s Festival Organization Board hold a parade and cycling race, “To the heroic Sac Forest Base”, on March 23rd to mark  the 82nd founding anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh Youth Union and 67th anniversary of the Vietnam Sports Day.

Present at the opening ceremony were Mr. Le Hoang Quan, Chairman of People’s Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City, representatives from the city’s branches and armed forces, and local people.

The two-day event involving over 400 youth union members and 120 cyclists from 6 cities and provinces in the South is to heighten people’s awareness of protecting the environment, educating young generations about patriotic traditions and introducing development of Can Gio District (Sac Forest in the old days).

During the event, participants will participate in various activities, such as paying tribute to the Sac Forest martyrs’ cemetery, planting green trees, tidying up beaches, presenting scholarships to needy local students and taking part in cultural exchanges with local youths and border guards.
