The festival aims to honor and popularize ‘Don ca tai tu,’ an art form that has been recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, thereby raising the public’s awareness of preserving, and promoting the artistic value of ‘Don ca tai tu’ in the South.

Can Tho city is the third locality to host such a national ‘Don ca tai tu’ festival. The hosts of the two previous festivals were Bac Lieu and Binh Duong provinces.

The highlight of the festival will be the opening ceremony themed “The quintessence of Vietnamese national art,” which is expected to attract some 1,000 participants.

Within the framework of the festival, a number of activities, such as ‘Don ca tai tu’ art contest with the theme “Southern ‘Don ca tai tu’ – Heritage of the South,” ‘Don ca tai tu’ space with the participation of 21 Southern provinces and cities, an exhibition entitled “Traditional instruments of Vietnamese ethnic minorities” will be held.

The festival is scheduled to take place from April 5 to 10 at the square of Binh Thuy district in Binh Thuy ward, Binh Thuy district.
