Eleanor rehearsing with teacher Thanh Tuyet

Eleanor Claphan, an Australian, has decided to perform a live-show on what she has learnt in Vietnam.

Accordingly, in the evening of December 22 in Hanoi Opera House, Eleanor whose Vietnamese name is Hoang Lan will show 4 extracts of Vietnam’s popular opera and classical drama.

Australian folk songs will also be sung between each extracts by Eleanor’s Australian friends in cooperation with 4 Vietnamese composers.

Eleanor said that extracts will be translated so that foreigners could understand profoundity of words in popular opera and classical drama.

The interest in popular opera and classical drama of Vietnam encouraged Hoang Lan to come to Vietnam for learning those traditional arts. She has studied and rehearsed those arts forone year at Meritorious Teacher Thanh Tuyet’s house.

Last year, while returing tothe homeland, Eleanor gave a show for overseas Vietnamese in Australia, a program in Canberra and a public performance in Sydney. Australian liked those Vietnamese traditional arts much more than overseas Vietnamese, Eleanor surprisedly said.

This Australian girl plans to take some friends in her homeland to Vietnam to work in group with Vietnamese artists and compose a play based on her idea.
