He affirmed that Viet Nam, Laos and Cambodia are close neighbors with longstanding relations. For Viet Nam, relations with Laos and Cambodia have always held a particularly important position, he said, noting that the peoples of the three countries have provided one another with valuable support, sacrifices and assistance throughout history.

Their achievements today have been nurtured by generations of leaders, officials and peoples of all three countries, he said. Therefore, training young officials and strengthening exchanges are particularly important to preserving and promoting the friendship and cooperation among the three parties, states and peoples.

Amid rapid, complex and unpredictable developments in the region and the world, greater contact and exchanges among young officials should receive greater attention, helping lay a foundation of trust, mutual understanding and consensus among future generations of leaders, he said.

Huan hailed the rich program, which combined theoretical studies, the sharing of practical experience and field visits to learn about Viet Nam’s socio-economic development. Participants have an opportunity to learn about the Party and political system building, economic development, social welfare and foreign affairs of Viet Nam, as well as its achievements and experience in renewal, international integration and national development.

He expressed his hope that participants will make effective use of the knowledge and experience gained during the program in their respective countries and serve as important bridges to help enhance mutual understanding, friendship and cooperation among Viet Nam, Laos and Cambodia.

The academy leader stressed that ties among the three parties, states and peoples are built up not only through cooperation mechanisms but, above all, on the foundation of trust, mutual understanding and close bonds forged through history. Therefore, increasing direct exchanges, study and dialogue among young officials is of long-term importance to consolidating and developing relations.

Speaking at the meeting, heads of the three young leaders’ delegations thanked the Party, State and relevant agencies of Viet Nam for creating favorable conditions for their participation in the program.

They said the program is a valuable opportunity for young officials to deepen their understanding of Viet Nam and one another while sharing experience and views on issues of common concern.

The initiative has also helped them gain a clearer understanding of the role of younger generations, particularly young leaders, in building on the achievements of previous generations and further nurturing the friendship and cooperation among the three parties and peoples.

The delegation heads affirmed that they will maintain their ties, step up exchanges and coordinate in their work after the program. They expressed their hope that exchanges, training and capacity-building programs for young officials will be held regularly and expand in both content and scale, creating new, practical and effective channels of cooperation.
