Officials also discussed the socio-economic development and administration building efforts in each locality.

Standing Vice Secretary of the Thua Thien Hue provincial Party Committee Pham Duc Tien said that Thua Thien Hue is focusing on administrative reform linked with digital transformation and smart urban services based on the three pillars of digital government, digital economy, and digital society.

Highlighting the fruitful and practical development of bilateral relations across the board, he proposed the two provinces effectively implement the cooperation agreement for the 2022-2026 period, strengthen ties in politics and diplomacy, and improve the effectiveness of collaboration in all areas, especially tourism, trade, and investment.

Tien also asked both sides to popularize their destinations and develop new tours to effectively tap the East-West Economic Corridor (Thailand - Laos - Vietnam).

He added that Thua Thien Hue will continue to annually provide 15 scholarships for Champasak’s students to pursue Vietnamese language learning and specialized courses at the higher education level.

Meanwhile, Sounnalath highly valued the multifaceted cooperation results between the two sides, suggesting them maintain the traditional friendship in all fields and, especially, promote tourism partnership.

He called on the Vietnamese province to encourage local businesses to invest in livestock farming, agricultural processing, and seed and fertilizer production in Champasak.

In recent years, Thua Thien Hue and Champasak have maintained delegation exchanges while cooperating in many fields such as education, human resources training, culture, and health care, significantly helping to realize their socio-economic development and international integration goals. They have also strengthened coordination in preventing, detecting, and combating crimes to contribute to the political security in each country as well as security and order along the shared borderline.

Since 2002, Thua Thien Hue has provided Vietnamese language and specialized training at the higher education level for 1,449 Lao students, including over 230 from Champasak.
