The delegation consisted of representative from GDP’s affiliated units, the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, general departments, military regions, services, army corps, and military schools.
As scheduled, the delegation toured Da Lon (Discovery Great Reef), Nam Yet (Namyit), Tien Nu (Tennent Reef), Toc Tan (Alison Reef), Phan Vinh (Pearson Reef), Nui Le (Cornwallis South Reef), Thuyen Chai (Barque Canada Reef), An Bang (Amboyna Cay), Truong Sa Dong (London Reef), Da Lat (Ladd Reef) island, and DK1/15 Platform.
On the occasion, the GDP’s delegation offered incense to monument of Grand Duke Tran Quoc Tuan on Nam Yet island, visited cultural works and troops’ barracks, and paid tribute to fallen soldiers in the region.
The delegation also handed over hundreds of gifts from the Defense Minister, MND, and other units to troops and islanders in the area.
They also spent time inspecting training and combat readiness work, as well as the implementation of Party and political work, technical services and logistics supplies, socio-economic development of troops and local people on the Truong Sa archipelago and DK1 platforms in general.
Addressing the event, General Minh hailed remarkable efforts and achievements of troops and local people here in training and combat readiness work, and socio-economic work.
He underscored that the Truong Sa archipelago holds an important strategic position in the cause of building and consolidating the national defense and security posture, in combination with the development of the marine economy. Over the past time, together with the care of the Party, State, and people, troops and islanders on the Truong Sa archipelago have excellently fulfilled their mission of protecting national sovereignty over sea and islands.
The GDP leader requested that in the coming time, they should attach much importance to the building of firm defensive area, raising training quality and combat readiness capability, overcoming difficulties so as to firmly protect national sovereignty over sea and islands, becoming a firm fulcrum for fishermen to operate at sea, deserving the trust and care of the whole people.
On the occasion, the Naval Service handed over the medal “For the cause of protecting national sovereignty over sea and islands, and the Truong Sa Soldier badge to the delegates.
