The event was attended by Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quang Phuong, Deputy Chief of the General Department of Politics and Permanent Deputy Head of the Steering Board for the Fund for Vietnam’s Seas and Islands, and representatives from the Defense Ministry’s units, Hanoi, and press and media from the Northern region.
Speaking at the event, General Phuong acknowledged relevant agencies’ and units’ efforts and outcomes in designing and building the “Fund for Vietnam’s Seas and Islands” website.
Tasked by the leader of the General Department of Politics, the People’s Army Newspaper promptly drew up a plan on November 15, 2019 to design the “Fund for Vietnam’s Seas and Islands” website. With all-out efforts, the newspaper successfully conducted a test run of the website on December 22, 2019.
On June 24, 2020, the Authority of Broadcasting and Electronic Information under the Ministry of Information and Communications licensed the newspaper to run the website.
As of July 23, the website has provided readers with around 650 high quality articles, videos, audio clips, and photoreports. All contents adhere to the directives of the Steering Board of the Fund for Vietnam’s Seas and Islands.
At the event, the Steering Board of the Fund for Vietnam’s Seas and Islands also awarded winners of a logo design contest, themed “Funds for Vietnam’s Seas and Islands.” According to the organizers, the contest received 150 entries from 54 artists. Of the six best logos, Trinh Ba Quat’s work bagged first prize.
During the conference, organizers also updated the press and media with information about seas and islands and national sovereignty protection. This information can serve as the orientation for the press and media to promote information about Vietnam’s seas and islands and the Fund for Vietnam’s Seas and Islands in the coming time.
