Contest on national seas and islands launched in Ninh Binh
PANO – The Vietnam Coast Guard Command in association with the Military Industry-Telecoms Group (Viettel) and the Gia Vien District People’s Committee launched the “I love national seas and islands” contest for secondary students in Gia Vien district on June 27.
As many as 90 students from secondary schools in Gia Vien District took part in numerous categories of the contest, such as multiple choice questions, games, and so on.

According to the organizers, the contest was held to raise the awareness of the local students and people of Vietnam’s seas and islands with contents related to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea 1982 (UNCLOS 1982), the Law of the Sea of Vietnam 2012, and missions of the Vietnam Coast Guard.
It is expected to contribute to improving young generations’ responsibility for safeguarding the national maritime sovereignty.
On the occasion, the Vietnam Coast Guard Command in collaboration with sponsors offered gifts to heroic Vietnamese mothers in the locality, handed over 30 scholarships and 20 bikes to needy students, and gave gifts to the local educational sector.
