At a press conference on the airline market held in Hanoi on October 24, Managing Director of Market Analysis & Sales Support at Boeing Commercial Airplanes Darren Hulst predicted that regional airlines will need 4,500 new aircraft in the period from now to 2038, and the growth will lead to an increase in demand on commercial aviation services

According to Hulst, Vietnam's aviation industry recorded impressive growth in the past five years, with the number of passengers tripling and the number of aircraft doubling.

Vietnam is forecast to have the growing middle class in Southeast Asia, he said, adding that the country has become one of the fastest growing aviation markets in the world, along with the strong development of domestic and international tourism.

In 2009, Vietnam’s aviation sector provided only about 800,000 seats per month, and this number increased to 3.3 million in 2019, he said.

He predicted that the single-aisle aircraft will continue to play a key role in Vietnam’s fleet used on domestic and regional routes.

The number of domestic flights of Vietnam rose by 3.5 times over the last decade, from 5,340 flights per month in 2009 to current 18,680 flights per month, he noted.
