Ho Chi Minh City to add a new open-top double-decker sightseeing bus route |
The Public Transport Management Centre under the city's Department of Construction said on June 25 that the new non-subsidized route (DL06) will connect Saigon Bus Station and Binh Trung. The service will be operated by World Travel Trading JSC using 60-seat open-top double-decker buses.
Designed to combine transport with sightseeing, the route will allow passengers to enjoy panoramic views of the city while passing iconic landmarks, distinctive architecture and modern urban areas.
The 27-kilometre route will take approximately 110 minutes per trip and operate daily from 8:00 to 19:00. It will initially run five trips a day from July 4 to September 30, increase to 10 daily trips throughout October, and expand to 15 trips a day from November 1.
Starting from Saigon Bus Station, the route will travel through major streets, including Pham Ngu Lao, Tran Hung Dao, Ham Nghi, Ton Duc Thang, Nguyen Tat Thanh, Mai Chi Tho and Van Dang before returning to the city center via The Thiem bridge and passing attractions around Notre-Dame Cathedral, Nguyen Hue Walking Street and other central districts.
Ho Chi Minh City currently operates five specialized open-top sightseeing bus routes, mainly serving visitors exploring the downtown area.
According to the Public Transport Management Centre, the addition of the route will diversify the city's signature tourism products, offer visitors a new perspective of the urban landscape, and support efforts to integrate transport with tourism while promoting Ho Chi Minh City as a dynamic, welcoming and culturally vibrant destination.
