Giving face masks to local people

By conducting practical activities such as providing free face masks, leaflets, and guiding people to wear masks and spraying disinfectant, youth union members helped people to raise their sense of responsibility in protecting themselves and their families from the COVID-19 epidemic.

These days, despite harsh weather, youths have actively promoted information dissemination about measures to prevent and control COVID-19 for local people living in hamlets and communes in An Phu border district, An Giang province.

Besides, they also focused on providing information via social networks such as Facebook and Zalo.

In addition, youths have coordinated with border guard troops to conduct patrols, control people and vehicles traveling across the border, and remind the locals to take measures to prevent the disease.

They also cleaned up the environment, provided 400 free face masks, and guided local people on how to use masks properly. These activities had a positive impact on union members and helped people correctly understand the epidemic.

Making face masks

"Previously, I used to go to Cambodia to exchange goods. Due to the complicated development of the epidemic, face masks and bottles of antiseptic water are very scarce. Thanks to troops and youth union members, I have learned how to protect myself from the disease," Ms. Chau Thanh Thuy, a resident of An Phu district said.

According to Nguyen Van Vu Minh, Secretary of Dong Thap Provincial Youth Union, the highlight of this year's Youth Month is that the youth union members are energetic, enthusiastic, daring and devoted. This helped strengthen solidarity among them. Notably, youths in Dong Thap province have mobilized social resources by raising hundreds of millions of VND to install 176 hand-washing systems, and donated nearly 1,000 blood units for treatment.

Meanwhile, youth union members of Can Tho city have responded to the Youth Month 2020 with a number of meaningful activities to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Since early this month, they have made more than 5,000 face masks and presented them to students and needy people in Thot Not district, Can Tho city.
