Transition houses help persons with disabilities to practice their daily living functions (such as moving, dressing, eating, etc.) so that they can fully integrate themselves into society and lead an independent life. The transition house at Cua Tung Traditional Medicine and Rehabilitation Hospital was developed with support from USAID’s Raising Voices, Creating Opportunities project. This three-year, $2 million project is expected to generate positive changes in accessibility for people with disabilities by building sustainable support models for persons with disabilities.
In December 2019, USAID’s Raising Voices, Creating Opportunities activity launched Vietnam’s first transition house for persons with disabilities in Thua Thien-Hue province and is currently replicating this model in Quang Nam and Quang Tri provinces.
