The event is an initiative of the VinaCapital Foundation’s Heartbeat Vietnam health care program. It has been held six times, raising more than VND 23 billion and helping 900 children nationwide receive free heart surgeries. It attracts an average of 10,000 to 15,000 participants every year.
According to a research conducted by the VinaCapital Foundation, about 16,000 Vietnamese babies are born with congenital heart defects every year, including 7,500 cases needing medical intervention. Each medical operation costs between VND 50 and 250 million.
