On February 5, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Tran Thanh Man extended Tet greetings and presented gifts to troops of Nhon Hung Border Post of the An Giang Provincial Border Guard.

Man also handed over 100 Tet gifts, worth VND 1.2 million each, to policy beneficiary families and poor households in border districts of Tri Ton and Tinh Bien in An Giang province.

Earlier, Man and his entourage paid homage to Late President Ton Duc Thang at the memorial area dedicated to him on Ho Islet in My Hoa Hung commune, Long Xuyen city. The delegation also offered incense to fallen soldiers rest in peace at Ba Dac war cemetery in Thoi Son commune, Tinh Bien district.

* On the same day, Le Quy Don Technical University concluded its three-day program “War Tet-happy spring” launched in Mai Long commune, Nguyen Binh district, Cao Bang province.

During the program, the university presented nearly 100 gifts to policy beneficiaries and students with adversity in life. It also gifted other practical things, such as computers, clothing, books and notebooks, biscuits to Mai Long commune’s kindergartens, primary and secondary schools as well as 2,000 red scarves to Nguyen Binh district’s young union organization.

* The Army Officer Training School No. 1 has lately inquired after policy beneficiary and disadvantaged families in its stationed area prior to the Lunar New Year Festival.

The school’s leadership also presented gifts to its needy staff while the school’s labor and youth unions supported their members facing difficulties.

* On February 4, Ho Chi Minh City’s Vietnam Youth Federation organized a “Beloved Spring” festival, during which the organizing panel presented over 300 Tet gifts to youths with disabilities and members having difficulties. It also gifted and entertained 300 child patients at hospitals.

As part of the festival, 500 Chung cakes were wrapped and jams were made as presents to needy people in the city.

Also on February 4, 20 workers and officials suffering from fatal diseases and 100 other workers with adversity in life received Tet gifts in the program “Arms of compassion” hosted by the Ho Chi Minh City Labor-Culture Palace.

* Meanwhile, the Tay Ninh Provincial Party and People’s Committees have extended Tet greetings to Vietnamese heroic mothers, heroes of the people’s armed forces, policy families, sick and wounded soldiers, troops and poor households in the locality. They expressed deep gratitude to their sacrifice during the national salvation and protection cause.

* At a recent “Spring in the border area” launched by Economic-Defense Unit 778 of Military Region 7 and Bu Gia Map district’s authorities, troops and locals joined hands in Chung cake-wrapping, cultural and artistic exchanges, folk games.

On the occasion, the unit handed over 300 gifts, valued at VND 300,000 each, to policy beneficiary families and poor households from S’tieng minority.

* Over 1,000 gifts were presented to workers participating in a program themed “For the sake of labor union members”, launched by the Ba Ria-Vung Tau provincial Labor Union.

On the occasion, the union received VND 135 million as support for workers from businesses and awarded nine businesses in recognition of their active engagement in proving a cozy Tet for workers.

* The Quang Ninh Provincial Red Cross Society has organized a program “Tet for the poor and victims of Agent Orange (AO)/Dioxin” in which 200 gifts were presented to 200 policy beneficiary families, AO victims, and poor households in Quang Yen town and funds to build houses for 13 impoverished families in the town were handed over.

* The Quang Nam Provincial Border Guard’s Women’s Union teamed with other units to give free health checkups and medicine to over 200 people, present 100 Tet gifts, blankets and clothing to policy beneficiary families and needy students in border district of Tay Giang, Quang Nam province.

The joined units also wrapped Chung cakes of the poor in locality and held cultural exchanges with local people.
