Addressing the meeting, Samsung Vietnam’s General Director Shim Won Hwan expressed his organizations honor to team up with health agencies and units in the country to carry out such a meaningful activity. “We know that more blood drops are donated, more lives are saved”, he said.
According to Professor Nguyen Anh Tri, Director of the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, the institute has always faced a shortage of stored blood because it is a blood provider for over 150 hospitals nationwide. Therefore, the success of this program with its outcome exceeding the target will help ease the blood shortage during the peak time. It means that more patients would be cured.
On the occasion, Samsung Vietnam presented over VND 800 million to the Red Cross Society of Bac Ninh and Thai Nguyen provinces and the same sum to the institute to assist patients with stem cell transplants.
Representatives from the Health Ministry, Vietnam Red Cross Society and National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion presented merit certificates to the company in recognition of its active contributions to the community, especially its blood donation.
